The Corridor Cities Transitway (CCT) is a planned Bus Rapid Transit or Light Rail line that will serve the northern part of Montgomery County, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. It was designated as a New Start by the SAFETEA-LU transportation bill. The CCT will run from the Shady Grove Metrorail station, at the end of one line of the region's heavy rail system, for about 15 miles to the northwest. It more or less follows Interstate 270, a major freeway that defines one of the premier high tech corridors in the United States. In the diagram at the right, a possible Automated Microbus system is shown that would connect key facilities with the CCT, and would also provide circulation within the southern part of the I-270 corridor.
